"My mom liked my dad's initials, so she just figured she'd give all the kids and the dogs double Vs," he explains, USA Today, 10-2-98
Q: What's the most typically glamorous Hollywood night you've experienced so far?
VV: I don't like the glamorous nights so much. I usually leave depressed and I don't know why. Maybe it's the forced politeness. I like the local bar with money in the jukebox and a pretty girl next to me.

Quotes from People who know/met Vince
(wiz's note: I cannot verify any of these sources nor the validity of the statements)
"He used to sing "Oh Sheila" at the top of his lungs during gym class. He's a nut."
-H.S. classmate
"He was, in truth, quite possibly the WORST singer I've ever heard. But we were only thirteen at that time - I figured it was just hormonal. He had to wear a ridiculous bald cap that kept peeling up at the corners. It was extremely sad. But he didn't give a damn. And the audience didn't seem to mind. We got a standing ovation (of course, 95% of the audience was made up of relatives - they're known to be biased)."

A Vaughntastic Accomplishment
Reliable Source, Washington Post
11-9-98:
From kindergarten through junior high, fidgety and unfocused Vince Vaughn spent an hour every day in a special class for "problem" students. While he did well in the "verbal subjects" of history and English, the star of "Clay Pigeons" and "Swingers" received "such bad grades I was terrified that I wasn't going to graduate from high school," the actor told The Source. So he ran for senior class president, figuring that if he were commencement speaker, "there was no way they would hold me back." And they didn't.
Tonight, Vaughn, 28, who went straight to Hollywood from his Illinois high school and opens next month as creepy Norman Bates in the "Psycho" remake, will be honored by the Lab School of Washington for overcoming his learning disabilities. At a black-tie gala at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, Vaughn will receive one of the school's annual awards given to inspire its students. "Like anything in life, it's a gift in a way," Vaughn said. "A big part of what led to my future career in acting was that sometimes you are not good in some skills and are forced to develop other skills to the extreme."
