LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Vince Vaughn is in negotiations to star opposite John Travolta in Paramount Pictures' thriller "Domestic Disturbance" for director Harold Becker ("City Hall"). The project will begin production Jan. 15 in North Carolina.

"Disturbance" marks Vaughn's second consecutive project for Paramount, having recently completed a cameo in the studio's "Zoolander," directed by and starring Ben Stiller.

Written by Lewis Colick ("October Sky"), "Disturbance" revolves around a divorced father (Travolta) who discovers that his 11-year-old son's new stepfather (Vaughn) is not what he made himself out to be. Travolta's character sets out on a mission to rescue his son from a life-threatening situation.

Paramount-based Donald De Line will produce the project with Travolta's manager Jonathan Krane. "Disturbance" marks De Line's first produced movie since exiting the executive ranks at Touchstone.

Vaughn, repped by United Talent Agency, currently stars on screen opposite Jennifer Lopez in New Line Cinema's "The Cell." He next stars in New Line's "The Prime Gig" and Artisan Entertainment's "Made," the latter directed and written by his "Swingers" co-star Jon Favreau.
