Trailer Blazer: 'Fred Claus,' 'Get Smart'
Jul 11, 2007 | by Chris Schonberger, EW.com | Permalink
Two new trailers for you, PopWatchers: Fred Claus and Get Smart. One question: Are Vince Vaughn and Steve Carell really going to pull a Will Ferrell and become unfunny shtick actors in big-budget Hollywood comedies? (You could argue that they already have, but I don't think they've quite reached Ferrell levels of overexposure.)
Let's start with Fred Claus, which immediately begs another question: Do we really need another bawdy reimagining of the classic Santa tale? In my mind Ernest Saves Christmas put the genre to bed back in 1988, but since then the procession has been endless: Bad Santa, Elf, Jingle All the Way, The Santa Clause, etc. Some of those movies were pretty funny, but even Mozart knew that you can only have so many variations on a theme before it's time to find a new movement.
The conceit of Fred Claus is pretty simple: Vince Vaughn plays Santa's roguish older brother the outcast of the Christmas-card perfect Claus family who returns to HQ (a heavily CGI-ed North Pole) and uses his sarcastic charm to snake his way back into the family business. Paul Giamatti actually seems pretty good as Santa, but Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin clearly thinks that Vaughn can carry a comedy solo. (Owen Wilson did it definitively with You, Me, and Dupree, so why can't he!?) Things eventually get out of hand, and a calculating Kevin Spacey who appears to head up some sort of evil mega-corporation that controls childhood myths threatens to close up the shop. Like a good Christmas stocking, it's the simple pleasures that make this trailer bearable: the ridiculousness of Ludacris playing an elf, for example. With a few eggnogs before, during, and after, this could actually be ok. Just don't hold the rum.
Get Smart's teaser keeps its gifts slightly more guarded perhaps because it doesn't have many? All we see of the film based on the 1960's TV satire of secret agent genre is three examples of the uncouth Maxwell Smart (Carell) doing a bumbling James Bond impression and then standing around looking silly. What we are promised, however, is an interesting on-screen lineup: Anne Hathaway, Alan Arkin, Terrence Stamp, The Rock, Masi Oka, and Ken Davitian (of Borat naked-wrestling fame).
So what's the verdict, PopWatchers? Can Vaughn conquer the Christmas box office? Will Get Smart make amends for Carell's Evan Almighty misstep?
Vaughn And Wilson Out Of Outsourced

It was supposed to have been their blockbuster follow-up to The Wedding Crashers, but MTV must now regretfully report yet another Hollywood divorce: Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are out of Outsourced.
It was developed for Vince and Owen, but theyre not doing it anymore, director Hank Azaria revealed.
The Simpsons voice actor has put his acting career on hold to shoot Outsourced, a comedy that marks Azarias directorial debut. Its about these two guys who work at a factory in Southern California, Azaria said. Their jobs get outsourced to Mexico, and they decide Well, we like Mexico. Lets go down there and work down there. And they become like the Norma Raes of Mexico.
While we cant be sure whether that means a Sally Field cameo is imminent, Azarias statements make it depressingly clear that Vince and Owen wont be re-teaming on screen anytime soon. Asked which stars would be replacing them as the laughable laborers, all Azaria could offer was We dont know yet. Well see. The project is scheduled to begin shooting in a few months.
Picturehouse, New Line get 'Wild'
Vaughn film finds new home
By
Dade Hayes, Variety
Picturehouse and New Line have scooped up world rights to "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights -- Hollywood to the Heartland," nullifying a deal announced by the Weinstein Co. at September's Toronto Film Festival.
Switch is less than uplifting for TWC, on the heels of its awards season misfires and the meltdown of "Grindhouse." Company is prepping for a busy Cannes, where it will preem Michael Moore's "Sicko," Wong Kar Wai's "My Blueberry Nights" and "Death Proof," the half of "Grindhouse" directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Picturehouse was one of the companies bidding in Toronto for the Vaughn pic, which sold to TWC for a shade under $3 million. The new deal is said to involve an acquisition price of about half that, but with a marketing commitment of at least $7-$8 million.
"We aggressively went after it in Toronto, but it didn't go our way," Picturehouse topper Bob Berney said. "When we heard via UTA (which reps Vaughn along with Miller Klein) that it was available, we didn't ask why. We just worked on making a deal happen."
A source close to TWC characterized the parting as amicable and said it resulted from a difference of opinion as to how broadly the pic could play and how it would roll out. Vaughn's career was launched by the Miramax release of "Swingers," which may have helped TWC in the bidding initially, but since the pic is a passion project, he apparently hoped for a more aggressive push.
"It's funny that it's even come up as amicable or not," Vaughn said. "To me, it just wasn't a fit as far as the marketing of the film. I was really thankful that they were willing to let me go with someone else."
At a meeting with Harvey Weinstein in L.A. about a month ago, a different source said Vaughn made known his disappointment in the marketing materials and strategy and asked to buy the pic back. Weinstein assented and Vaughn will now repay an advance, estimated in the low seven figures, and proceed to the Picturehouse deal.
Produced by Vaughn, the film shows him selecting four up-and-coming comics and then leading them on a tour of 30 cities in 30 days. Footage from the 30 perfs featuring Bret Ernst, Ahmed Ahmed, Sebastian Maniscalco and John Caparulo is mixed with behind-the-scenes material.
A domestic release is now planned for early 2008, likely in the spring, with New Line following overseas through its network of international partners.
The delay is planned partly to allow time to craft a national rollout targeted at 300-400 screens; for the release of Vaughn's next pic, "Fred Claus"; and for the doc's comedians to gain a bit more exposure.
Not everyone who saw the pic in Toronto was as tickled as Berney. Daily Variety's review deemed the film "ungainly titled, overlong and intermittently funny."
According to another source connected to the film, at the heart of the disagreement was TWC's intent to emphasize the R-rated nature of the pic with marketing elements such as a "red-band" (adults-only) trailer. Berney declined to speculate about TWC's approach but sees the pic as "more about getting to know Vince than an R-rated thing. Some of the heartland markets like St. Louis or New Orleans will be great places for it."
Berney said the pic now clocks in at around 90 minutes, 25 minutes shorter than the festival cut. No more tweaks are planned.
"Bob really got that the film has an event aspect that's about the road trip we take," Vaughn said. "It's more genuine and stripped-down than a lot of standup films and you get to meet the characters."

"You all have supported me since the days of Friends," Aniston told the audience, "just through all of it good work, bad work and the ugly. I just thank you." Playing on the movie's title and her real life, she added: "Thank you for loving The Break-Up I did."
Aniston also poked a little fun at Britney Spears, quipping about the short skirt she was wearing: "Man, I tell you, it's a lucky thing we do wear underwear, huh?"
Later in the show, by which time his costar and ex-girlfriend had left, Vaughn thanked Aniston in his acceptance speech and called her "one of the great people in Hollywood."
Among other winners, Johnny Depp, who was filming in London and unable to attend the ceremony, accepted his favorite male movie star and male action star for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest via satellite. He and costar Keira Knightley were also selected favorite onscreen match-up.
"I've said this before, but the fact that this award comes from the people makes it that much more special," he said. "Thanks for the honor. Thanks for keeping me employed. You're the boss."
Grey's Anatomy was a double winner: favorite TV drama and Patrick Dempsey, favorite male TV star.
"Thank you for a second chance!" Dempsey told the crowd. "I'm very fortunate to be part of a great ensemble." To the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes, he said: "Thank you for creating Dr. McDreamy, it's changed my life."
And Desperate Housewives's Eva Longoria, who was named favorite female TV star, told the crowd: "If it wasn't for the people, I'd never win an award."
Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" was named favorite R&B song, while Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesney were cited as favorite singers.
The ceremony, broadcast from the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium, aired on CBS and was hosted by Queen Latifah.

Jennifer Aniston Denies Engagement
The Associated Press
Thursday, August 17, 2006; 1:49 PM
NEW YORK -- Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn engaged? Don't be ridiculous, Aniston says.
The "Friends" actress told People magazine that reports of her engagement to the "Be Cool" actor, including an article in Us Weekly, are false, calling the stories "insane."
"I'm not engaged, and I don't have a ring, and I haven't been proposed to," Aniston told People, according to an article appearing on the magazine's Web site Wednesday.
Us reported in an Aug. 9 cover story citing anonymous sources that Vaughn had proposed to Aniston on June 27 on a private jet after a trip to Mexico. Us is sticking by its story, which other media outlets picked up.
"Us Weekly based its story on lengthy interviews with four separate and independent sources close to the couple, including two who learned of the engagement directly from Vince Vaughn," the magazine said in a statement Wednesday. "Jennifer's publicist never denied the engagement in advance of publication."
People magazine said Aniston, who has starred in such movies as "Along Came Polly" and "Bruce Almighty," called it to clarify the reports.
Aniston said she normally ignores rumors published about her but wanted to speak this time because the reports had been picked up by mainstream news outlets.
"The only reason I'm saying something is because if we're listening to the news we're supposed to be believing in the news," she said.
Aniston was vague about her relationship with Vaughn, whom she met last year while filming "The Break-Up."
"We're just being," she told People. "We're having a good time."

Vince better in bed than Brad
wiz's note: This headline is hilarious
Updated: 2006-07-17 11:25
Jennifer Aniston says Vince Vaughn is better in bed than Brad Pitt.
The former Friends actress recently had a girlie night in with her closest friends, and as the wine flowed they talked about the best sex they'd ever had, but Brad's name allegedly did not come up.
A friend of Jennifer's is quoted by America's New Weekly magazine as saying: "Hands down, Vince is the best lover Jen says she's ever had. She giggles, saying how great he is, in and out of the bedroom. Jen says Vince is a real man. He understands her needs sexually and emotionally."
It has also been claimed that Jennifer never spoke adoringly about her relationship with Brad - who has just had his first child with new love Angelina Jolie - but can't stop talking about Vince.
The couple met while filming their new movie The Break Up together and were even rumoured to have got engaged while promoting the movie in Paris, France.
Another friend of the actress said: "Contrary to what a lot of people think, Jen really has moved on from Brad. Jen says she doesn't need another star-studded wedding. She wants it to be all about her and Vince."
It has even been reported that Jennifer has invited Brad's mum and sister to the wedding - because the trio became such good friends while she was married to the Troy actor.
The engagement reports have not yet been confirmed. (Bang! Showbiz)

Aniston: 'I've admired Vaughn for years'
17/07/2006 - 07:21:25 Jennifer Aniston had a crush on her boyfriend Vince Vaughn for years before the pair fell in love on the set of The Break-Up.
Jennifer Aniston had a crush on her boyfriend Vince Vaughn for years before the pair fell in love on the set of The Break-Up.
Aniston had found her "new squeeze" Vaughn attractive for a long time, although she stops short of confirming their romance.
Speaking on tonight's episode of British chat show Richard & Judy, Aniston says: "He's a great man and so much fun.
"He's a really good actor and a comedian. The combination of the two make him so interesting to watch. I've been a fan of his for years."
Aniston also hinted during the interview that a Friends reunion was on the cards.
The actress said she would like to reprise her role as Rachel in a Thanksgiving special.
I do at times miss it, she said in an interview on Channel 4s Richard and Judy. The only thing I can think of doing is maybe for fun doing a Thanksgiving episode. Our Thanksgiving episodes were really fun.
The last episode of TVs most successful sitcom aired in May 04.
Reunions have been rumoured before but Aniston was said to have been reluctant to revisit the show. It seems she may have had a change of heart after discussing the plans with co-star Courteney Cox, who played Monica.
Cox said recently: I can see us coming back together to do something like a Thanksgiving show. Monica and Chandler would come in from the cuntry with their two kids, who are a couple of years old now.
I think their story is continuing, even if were not watching. I think they see each other every Thanksgiving.
Aniston, 37, is in London promoting her new film The Break Up, in which she stars with Vince Vaughan.
The couple are said to be an item but when asked if they were dating, she replied: Where do you hear that?
She would only say: Listen, hes a great man, hes a great friend, hes a great actor and so much fun.
The actress, who divorced husband Brad Pitt last year, was reduced to tears during the interview.
Interviewer Judy Finnigan told her: Youve got millions and millions of people wishing you well. I have to say, I honestly dont know of anybody that weve interviewed who has inspired so many of our friends and teenage children to say, please tell her I love her.
A teary Aniston replied: Thank you, youve got me all kerplunked!
The full interview will be broadcast on Richard and Judy at 5pm today.
MTV Movie Awards Celebrate Fun of Films
By SANDY COHEN

CULVER CITY, Calif. -- Jessica Alba played starring roles in "King Kong," "Mission Impossible: III" and "The Da Vinci Code." At least she did on Saturday, when she parodied the three blockbusters as the host of the 2006 MTV Movie Awards, known for taking a lighthearted look at the industry it honors.
This is the awards show where a teen-is-king attitude reigns, where stars step out in jeans and use the f-word in acceptance speeches.
"It's not even like an awards show," said actor Zach Braff. "It feels like a birthday party."
The unconventional ceremony, held on a soundstage at Sony Studios, celebrates the fun of films with prizes recognizing the best on-screen hero, villain, kiss and fight, as well as sexy, funny and frightened performances. The awards are based on fan votes.
Last summer's "Wedding Crashers" was the night's big winner, collecting three trophies, including the coveted Golden Popcorn for best movie.
The film also earned breakthrough performance honors for Isla Fisher and best on-screen team award for Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.
"For most people, playing a bipolar nymphomaniac would have been a challenge," Fisher said with a grin. "But I just played myself."
Vaughn, accepting his award by video, said that working with Wilson made him "feel like a jockey on the back of a great horse."
"I thought we had a shot at best on-screen kiss," Wilson quipped.
Jake Gyllenhaal, who beat out Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon for best performance, teamed with "Brokeback Mountain" co-star Heath Ledger for best kiss.
"This is a real honor, not just for me and Heath but for all of you, that you picked this movie and this kiss over all the other ones," Gyllenhaal said.
Alba took home her own Golden Popcorn trophy for her sexy striptease performance in "Sin City."
"Thank you to all the perverts who voted for me," she said. "Thank you to the fans. I do movies for you. Practice safe sex and drive hybrids if you can."
Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, the team soon to be seen in the big-screen rendition of "Miami Vice," presented the prize for best fight with a serving of silliness. Foxx beat-boxed on the microphone and threatened to "fight someone tonight" before announcing the winners: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for their fiery feud in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
"Angelina and Brad are stuck in traffic," Farrell said. "They're doing their thing and we all wish them a big congratulations."
Jolie recently gave birth to the couple's daughter in Africa.
Christian Bale won best hero for his role in "Batman Begins" and thanked his wife, whom he called "my own personal Wonder Woman." Hayden Christensen was named best villain for his turn as Darth Vader in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith." He thanked George Lucas "for giving me the chance to play such a cool character."
Rapper LL Cool J presented Spike Lee with the Silver Bucket of Excellence for "Do the Right Thing," his 1989 film examining racial tensions. The prize honors a movie from the past that has present-day resonance.
"The sad thing is that the issues that we tried to address with `Do the Right Thing' are still with us today, so how much progress have we made?" Lee asked as he accepted his award.
Will Ferrell and a nearly unrecognizable John C. Reilly came to the show as the rebel racecar drivers they play in the forthcoming "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby." The pair didn't win anything, but gave a thank-you speech anyway. They presented the best comedic performance prize to Steve Carell for "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."
Later, Ferrell honored fellow funnyman Jim Carrey with the MTV Generation Award for his diverse body of work.
"This man's versatility makes Thomas Jefferson look like a big fat idiot," Ferrell said.
Wearing an all-white suit, Carrey took the stage with a cadre of winged angels and performed a spontaneous hip-shaking jig.
The show also featured musical performances by soul duo Gnarls Barkley, rockers AFI and Christina Aguilera, who performed "Ain't No Other Man."
The show is scheduled to air at 8:30 p.m. June 8 on MTV.

Bouquets for 'Wedding Crashers'
The 15th annual MTV Movie Awards, known for their lighthearted take on the industry they purport to honor, were held Saturday with nods for best onscreen hero, villain, kiss and fight, as well as more conventional categories.
The ceremony, with its teen-is-king attitude, is an event where stars are celebrated for showing up in jeans and for their liberal use of profanity. Taped at Sony Studios in Los Angeles and hosted this year by Jessica Alba , the awards are determined by fan votes. The ceremony will air Thursday.
"Wedding Crashers" was the big winner with three awards: best movie, best breakthrough performance by Isla Fisher , and best on-screen team for stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson .
Jake Gyllenhaal teamed with "Brokeback Mountain" co-star Heath Ledger for best kiss.
"This is a real honor, not just for me and Heath but for all of you, that you picked this movie and this kiss over all the other ones," Gyllenhaal said.

"Thank you to all the perverts who voted for me," she said. "Thank you to the fans. I do movies for you. Practice safe sex and drive hybrids if you can."
And they say glamour is dead.
'Break-Up' Was Right for Jennifer Aniston
The Associated Press
Friday, June 2, 2006; 3:16 PM
LOS ANGELES -- Jennifer Aniston had a laugh when she got a call about "The Break-Up." Funny enough, she had some firsthand experience on the topic.
"I kind of laughed and thought, `Well ... that's funny,'" Aniston told reporters recently, according to AP Radio.
She said working on the film during her own marriage breakup wasn't all bad. "I kind of found it _ something like a sign or something that, you know, to do it because it was sort of like in a way, umm, a cathartic thing."
Aniston divorced Brad Pitt in October, after 4 1/2 years of marriage.
The 37-year-old actress said she found her own experience beneficial to her role in the movie, which opened Friday.
"I felt very lucky in a way. ... If this had come to me at any other time in my life, I don't know if I would had been able to really get it _ for myself _ on the level that I would have wanted to as an actor."
Aniston reportedly has been dating her co-star Vince Vaughn. She described him as someone who is generous and thoughtful to work with.
"He asks questions, he listens, he's interested in other people, it's not just about him," she told reporters.
Angelina Jolie, Pitt's co-star in the 2005 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter named Shiloh Nouvel, in Namibia last week.
It was during the filming of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" that reports of a romance between Pitt and Jolie began, which were later corroborated by photographs and public spottings.

Voicing her opinion

New York Daily News
By JONATHAN SMALL
Actors have their trademark calling cards. Jennifer Aniston has her hair. Vince Vaughn has his deadpan "you gotta be kidding me" look. For Joey Lauren Adams - who co-stars in "The Break-Up" as Aniston's loyal and patient pal - it's her dog-whistle of a voice.
"They actually tried to change my voice in high school," Adams says, recalling humiliating sessions with a speech therapist. But the defining moment, she says, came when she was 18 and her brother suffered a terrible car accident that put him in a coma.
"I was the only one he responded to because my voice was so distinctive," she says. "At that moment, I realized there's something to this."
Indeed. Adams' high-pitched, husky Southern chirp - part Teletubby, part early-career Melanie Griffith - is what she's known for. The 38-year-old Little Rock, Ark., native did a few TV appearances and small roles in movies ("Dazed and Confused," "Mallrats") before her role as a lesbian comic book artist pursued by a fellow illustrator (Ben Affleck) in director Kevin Smith's "Chasing Amy" (1997) put her on the map. She followed it up with the Adam Sandler comedy "Big Daddy."
But the roles, she found, were not as memorable as her sexy squeak. "After 'Chasing Amy,' I thought, 'Oh, I'm finally gonna get to do good parts,'" Adams says. "But they're not out there. I was really disillusioned." Tired of sitting around waiting, she decided to write and direct her own movie. "Come Early Morning," a semiautobiographical film starring Ashley Judd, took Adams five years to make but premiered at this year's Sundance to good notices.
But her off-screen life has a parallel with her new film: She has had a sort-of breakup with Vince Vaughn. The two met over a decade ago in Hollywood.
"I thought he was really cute, and we ended up talking, and he asked me out," she recalls. The next day she invited Vaughn to a dog park with her friend, even though no one actually had a dog. "Vince thought that was really strange ... and I completely freaked him out by bringing a friend along."
Adams remembers Vaughn telling her that day about a new script a friend had written, and how one character was based on him. "Vince was really shy," she says. "I thought, 'Why would someone base a character on you?'" The friend was Jon Favreau, and the movie was the indie cult classic "Swingers." And despite her and Vaughn's awkward "date," a friendship flourished; she became part of his creative circle, which includes Favreau, "Arrested Development" star Jason Bateman and "Break-Up" producer Peter Billingsley.
While editing her own film, Adams took time to be in Vaughn's movie. It was on the set of "The Break-Up" that she met Team Vaughn's newest addition, the then-newly single Aniston.
At first, she didn't know what to expect. "I'm like everyone else - I form opinions about people in Hollywood that I haven't met," she says. She wondered if she would have to "walk on egg shells around her" because of her recent divorce from Brad Pitt. But now Adams gives her friend's new love a huge thumbs-up. "Jennifer is just a really down-to-earth, nice person," she gushes. "She's very open."
As Aniston, a star of "Friends," surely knows, it's important to get the approval of your boyfriend's pals.
This goofball is 'so money!'
May 28, 2006
By JACK MATTHEWS
New York Daily News

A bus tour guide (Vince Vaughn) and an art dealer (Jennifer Aniston) live together after splitting up, in The Break-Up.
Universal Pictures
If someone who looked like Vince Vaughn think a scruffier Paul Newman at 6-foot-5 walked into a movie studio in 1950, he would probably have been given a seven-year contract and had his name changed to Rock.
The studio would have given him supporting roles in B-movies, then advanced him to the A-list. They'd have learned what audiences thought of him and cast him in parts that played to his strengths.
If they'd guessed right and he had the talent that Vaughn, in fact, has, they would have turned him into a major star.
But Vaughn, poor guy, had to make it to where he is today a budding 36-year-old superstar with his co-star, Jennifer Aniston, dangling from his arm the hard way. He scrounged for commercials and bit parts on TV shows, taking whatever crumbs of film roles folks dropped in his vicinity, like a small role in 1993's teen football drama Rudy.
But then came 1996's Swingers, in which he played an L.A. Lothario trying to help a nerdy friend (Jon Favreau, also the film's writer and Vaughn's pal) score with the ladies, and, well, if Vaughn's star wasn't exactly born, it at least became visible enough for Steven Spielberg to cast him in 1997's Jurassic Park: The Lost World. Meanwhile, Swingers' attitude and catch phrases ("You're so money, baby!") turned it into a sort of Rosetta stone for twentysomething hipsters.
Finally, mainstream audiences were saying, "Who's that?"
Vaughn has worked steadily ever since in several genres, discovering through hits like Old School, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Wedding Crashers (and bit parts in Starsky & Hutch, Be Cool and Mr. & Mrs. Smith) that his greatest commercial strength is his talent as a comedy actor. And a rare one he is in the new Hollywood firmament.
Vaughn is that special star like Newman was who is equally appealing to women, who'd like to be with him, and men, who'd simply like to be him.
The reality of movie fame in the 21st century is that there are no seven-year contracts, no guarantees that this year's stars will be on next year's marquees. But, for the moment, Vince Vaughn (his real name, by the way, and better than anything the studios might have concocted) is white-hot and getting hotter.
With the release of The Break-Up, he could get those "compared to Cary Grant" kind of reviews that would elevate him to yet another level.
In The Break-Up, Vaughn and his real-life girlfriend, Aniston (they reportedly started dating during filming), play a Chicago couple who decide to separate but can't decide who gets the condo they bought together. So they share the condo as singles trying to get on with their lives.
You don't need a copy of the script to know how this might go, especially if you've seen the trailer. Vaughn's Gary and Aniston's Brooke are meant for each other, and the condo will be the connection that brings them back together.
The importance of The Break-Up to Vaughn can't be overstated. It's a test of what would seem to be his natural habitat, the romantic comedy. For a guy as good-looking as he is, Vaughn's had relatively few chances to set onscreen fires with leading ladies (a fate that befell his shaggy, hip precursor Bill Murray in the early '80s). In Swingers, Vaughn was easy to accept as the guy who got all the babes, but most of his recent roles have depended on his laconic cool and offbeat goofiness.
It wasn't until last year's Wedding Crashers, of all movies, that we got to see the truly sensitive Vaughn in action the guy's-guy romantic lead. His character, the womanizing divorce mediator Jeremy Grey, falls in love with one of the women he'd hoped to womanize, and his desire for her destroys the bad boy inside him.
From the viewer's standpoint, it's all good. Vaughn has such a likable quality that he can make those transitions with ease. And today, everyone knows that.
Us Magazine: Jen and Vince at The Break-Up Afterparty
May 24, 2006
While doing press for The Break-Up, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn have been keeping their distance in public, so as not to draw attention to their relationship and away from their movie. Â But they finally came together at the afterparty for the premiere at Napa Valley Grill in L.A.'s Westwood neighborhood Monday night. The secretly happy couple, arriving just minutes apart, emerged from restrooms and practically ran into each other in the small hallway, leading to an unexpected rendezvous.
According to a witness, "They hugged quickly and looked like an effortless couple. They both looked relieved to see each other even if it was just for a quick minute before beginning their night apart." For the next few hours the couple worked the room separately, mingling with the likes of Stacey Kiebler, Alyssa Milano, Joey Lauren Adams, John Favreau and Amanda Bynes. Aniston sipped on her signature dirty martini and Vaughn stayed on his best behavior, nursing one glass of champagne throughout the night.
"Jen looked so happy," a partygoer tells Us. "She had a constant huge smile on her face." At around midnight, after most of the guests had left, the two planned their separate getaways. "Vince was taking notice of Jen's movements and when she left he definitely made it clear that he wanted to quickly follow and join her."
Jen, Vince Keep Their Distance at Premiere

Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn kept a healthy distance between them at Monday's Los Angeles premiere of their new romantic comedy, The Break-Up.
Aniston walked the red carpet a good five minutes before Vaughn, and the pair never got within 25 feet of each other.
Still, both signed autographs for some of the hundreds of screaming fans and, once inside the theater, posed for group pictures with costars Jon Favreau and Joey Lauren Adams and director Peyton Reed.
Aniston, looking tan and relaxed, told reporters of Vaughn, "He's a professional. He's unbelievably good at his job. I didn't feel compromised as an actor because my costar was going off and doing his thing."
Of herself, she said, "I'm just happy. There's no reason to be anything else, is there? There's enough of that in the world."
Vaughn, who is also a producer and writer of The Break-Up, was in equally high spirits. "I feel great," he said. "The response has been so good, the movie's very funny, and it also has some real moments in it. I'm excited to be out tonight."
The couple, who got to know each other while making the film, have never confirmed anything more than an off-screen friendship, although Vaughn told Oprah Winfrey this month that Aniston is "just really smart and funny and easy to be with."
Musing on their future, he said, "No, I have not talked about having kids with Jennifer," he said, and then joked, "First we have to have the $8 million wedding."
Fireworks Fly between Jen and Vince

Extra TV
Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn may be breaking up on the big screen, but in real life they are burning up for one another.
Only "Extra's" Jerry Penacoli got the details from the couple, who joked affectionately with one another as they sat down to talk about breaking up and making up.
On the set of their new romantic comedy "The Break-Up," sparks flew and romance blossomed between the two. "We just met and had it instantly," Jen revealed. "I felt really safe with him. I immediately felt comfortable and like I'd known him for a while, so that helped with our chemistry in the movie."
Off screen, Jen and Vince's love might be burning, but on screen it's a completely different story!
The film chronicles a couple's messy breakup. "The little things they used to like or find charming on the other person are now at a point where it's annoying each other," Vince explained.
Jen said there was something special and even familiar about the fight scenes: "The way we would volley together. You don't get that all the time. You really don't. And we always felt we were pretty much in sync."
The film shows Jen and Vince together, everywhere from the dining table to the shower, and even inside the bedroom. "It goes deep into the deterioration of a relationship," Jen revealed.
Although in the movie there is backstabbing and questions of fidelity, off screen Jen and Vince are reportedly still going strong as they prepare for their movie debut together.
"The Break-up" romances movie-goers nationwide June 2.
Vince and Jen have mutual admiration
I felt really safe with him says Aniston about her Break-Up co-star

While they've never even officially confirmed that they're a couple, on Friday, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn sat down with Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell to talk all about each other and their new film The Break Up.
So I understand you had Jennifer in mind for the role all along? Nancy asked Vince.
She was the only one that came to mind when we thinking of someone who was good with comedy, good with drama and who's really likable, so we really didn't have a back up choice, Vince revealed.
What would you have done if you said no? Nancy wondered.
Thankfully we didn't have to go through that. She said yes right away, Vince explained. Well, not right away. But she did say yes.
Luckily for Vince, who's also producing the film, Jennifer signed on for the comedy ironically, just one month after she and Brad Pitt split.
Although Vince and Jen were making a movie about a couple that can't get along, they clicked immediately.
I felt really safe with him, Jen said. That was the other thing. I immediately felt comfortable and like I'd known him for awhile.
She's got Elvis dust, Vince smiled.
What's Elvis dust? Nancy asked.
It's unexplainable. People are drawn to her. Jennifer's the kind of person you could put in a room and all the kids would come over not even knowing how she is, Vince explained.
Jen returned the kind words, saying Vince was easy to mesh with on-screen.
I loved the way we would volley together, she said. I had that on my show, where we would just have a trust but that was also 10 years in the making and we just met and had it pretty instantly.
In fact, the only thing they had to adjust for was the height difference nearly a foot.
I'm unfortunately circus tall and Jen is regular height, Vince joked. I'm always taller. She was in heels a lot or I'd take my shoes off.
The Break Up hits theaters on June 2.
Vince Vaughn Sort of Talks About Aniston

NEW YORK -- Though Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston have been mum about their romantic relationship, they aren't fooling David Letterman.
With Vaughn as a guest on "The Late Show," Letterman took the approach of presuming the relationship, which has been frequently photographed, but not "officially" confirmed.
"Hey, nice going on that Jennifer Aniston thing," the late-night host says to Vaughn on a taped interview to air Friday on CBS (11:30 p.m. EDT).
Letterman also tells Vaughn, who stars with Aniston in the upcoming film, "The Break-Up," that he thinks they make a nice couple.
An embarrassed and amused Vaughn responds: "It's very nice of you to say that, Dave, thank you. Yeah, it's been kind of interesting for me, and I just choose not to talk about my private life that much publicly."
As the conversation continues, the 36-year-old actor eventually addresses the audience, "Do you like the way he just kind of takes the approach that it's fact?"
Letterman then asks if they aren't a couple.
"I'm not saying we are or aren't a couple," says Vaughn. "I think she's great, but I just don't discuss whether we are."
Reports of a relationship between Vaughn and Aniston, 37, began to surface last fall when the two were shooting "The Break-Up." Neither star has confirmed it.
Aniston was divorced from Brad Pitt last October.

Aniston: Wedding Rumor "So Unbelievable"
E! Online

Jennifer Aniston may have Friends with Money, but they're not throwing her a multimillion-dollar wedding anytime soon.
In yet another attempt to squelch the weeks-old rumor that Oprah Winfrey is planning an $8 million knot-tying gala for Aniston and boyfriend Vince Vaughn, the Friends alumna decided to check in with the alleged wedding coordinator herself, calling into The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday to chat about the mythical nuptials.
"The rumors are so unbelievable," Aniston said over the phone, while Winfrey stood next to a large picture of the 37-year-old actress. "For us, I guess, at a certain point, you have no other choice but to think it's funny."
At this point, we're not sure which is funnier--the fact that the buzzed-about "wedding of the century" plans have included everything from a performance by master cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the ceremony to a million-dollar gift from Winfrey (making it a $9 million affair), or that the talk-show maven really could pull that sort of event together, no matter how outlandish the plans.
But for now, Aniston and Winfrey are making a point of letting their public know the wedding is not gonna happen.
After Winfrey joked to her pal Monday that the $8 million didn't seem like enough for the extravagant plans she had heard about through the grapevine, the duo set to rest another recent gossip item that had Aniston moving to Chicago...to be near Winfrey, of course.
"I also heard I was helping you find a house because I wanted you near me," Winfrey said.
"Aw, that's so sweet," Aniston replied. "No, I'm good, actually. I've got my house."
She also has her protective posse. While reps for both Aniston and Vaughn have denied all of the above, sometimes it takes a little more star power to get the message across. Usually if you have Oprah in your corner, you're set, but Aniston also got a boost from Friends with Money costar Catherine Keener, who acted as an impromptu spokeswoman for her pal when a Today show reporter asked for the wedding details--if any--during an Apr. 4 interview.
"I thought you weren't going to go there--but you did," Keener told entertainment correspondent Jill Rappaport when the topic came up. Aniston mainly kept mum on the subject then, hence her current attempt to clear the air.
This is not the first time Winfrey has been on hand to talk truths with Aniston. She shared a champagne toast with Winfrey as the first guest to kick off Oprah's 20th season in September. And in addition to the inevitable chat about Jen's divorce, it was also revealed that the actress and some other friends had spent time at Winfrey's home for a girls-only gabfest.
In real-life Aniston news, the Beverly Hills mansion she shared with ex-husband Brad Pitt sold for $22.5 million last month. In happier times, the couple put about $15 million worth of work into the estate.
Some extra work was also put into Aniston's upcoming film The Break-Up, which, despite its title, is not a biopic.
Apparently, Aniston's adoring fans want to see her happily settled down--preview audiences didn't go for the comedy's original darker ending, which had the actress remaining broken up with her ex (played by Vaughn), according to the New York Post. The final scenes were reportedly reshot, making The Break-Up a little less Annie Hall and a lot more Ross 'n' Rachel.

Comedy Star of the Year: Vince Vaughn
By DANIEL FRANKEL
WHY: Last year, Vaughn starred in the film that was most responsible for the resurgence of feature comedy, New Line's "Wedding Crashers," which took in more than $200 million domestically. And in a year of top feature comedy perfs -- ShoWest denizens also considered "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" star Steve Carrell for their laffer award -- Vaughn's work in "Crashers" stood out.
CRASH AND CARRY: "While (co-star Owen) Wilson spends much of his time pining, Vaughn's rapid-fire dialogue yields most of the comedic highlights, from labeling a woman a 'Stage 5 clinger' to his hushed reverence toward the fellow who originated the wedding crasher's art, leading to the inevitable (and, after the first glimpse, pretty ho-hum) celebrity cameo," read Variety's review.
Now, Vaughn is reaping the rewards of a vital genre. He has a number of comedy pics either in production or development, starting with "The Break-Up" alongside Jennifer AnistonJennifer Aniston, which premieres in June.
I don't want pity, Aniston declares
By Karen Thomas,
USA TODAY

Jennifer Aniston knows people feel sorry for her, and she hates it. "It makes my skin crawl," Aniston tells the April issue of Vogue, due on newsstands in New York and L.A. on Tuesday and nationwide on March 21.
"Don't make me your victim," she says. "I'm so tired of being part of this sick, twisted Bermuda Triangle." Of course, that triangle is the Aniston-Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie saga that has been tabloid news for the past year.
"All I can do is go on and live my life," the former Mrs. Pitt says. But, she adds, "these are human beings. ... It's real."
The actress, whose Vogue photographs were shot by Mario Testino, has moved back into the Hollywood bungalow where she was living when she met Pitt. She says she might consider moving from Los Angeles until the paparazzi frenzy settles.
And though she speaks frankly about the breakup (without ever saying the names of her ex and Jolie), Aniston is mostly tight-lipped when it comes to Vince Vaughn, her co-star in The Break-Up, due in theaters in June.
The two were spotted at an Oscars party. "First and foremost, he's a really good, loyal friend," she tells Vogue. "Fiercely loyal."

'Claus' draws Vaughn, Dobkin
By MICHAEL FLEMING
The "Wedding Crashers" team of Vince Vaughn and director David Dobkin are at the altar for "Fred Claus," a Warner Bros. holiday comedy about Santa's loser brother.
While negotiations are just beginning, deal should see Vaughn cement his status as a comedy-carrying star by reaching the $20 million salary mark for the first time. Dan Fogelman wrote the script and Dobkin is producing with Jessie NelsonJessie Nelson.
Comedy revolves around Santa's black-sheep brother, who heads back to the North Pole and gets a chance to redeem himself.
Talks of a reteam between Vaughn and Dobkin began right after the "Wedding Crashers" director divorced himself from Universal's Adam SandlerAdam Sandler-Kevin JamesKevin James comedy "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" (Daily Variety, Feb. 23). Vaughn previously worked with Dobkin on "Clay Pigeons."

Comedy festival to feature 10th anniversary reunion of 'Swingers' actors
JON SARCHE

Associated Press Writer
DENVER It's still money, baby.
The U.S. Comedy Arts Festival announced Monday that its centerpiece showcase next month will be a 10th-anniversary celebration of the 1996 film "Swingers," which made "money" the coinage of cool. The festival, set to run March 8th-12th in Aspen, Colo., will reunite the film's cast Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau (who also wrote the movie) and Ron Livingston.
Favreau, who in "Swingers" plays a New Yorker transplanted to Los Angeles as he painfully tries to get over a broken relationship, feels it was the story's exploration of universal themes for young adults that struck a big chord.
"It had a lot of sort of heat associated with how timely it was to what was going on in pop culture," he said Monday in a phone conversation. "It was a very personal story ... and I wrote it at a moment when I was really wrestling with those dilemmas and the whole idea of friendship and what the future might hold overcoming the depression and in overcoming a relationship or being alone in a new town."
The film was ahead of its time, Favreau said, setting the stage for the type of comedy found in more recent box office hits "Old School" and "Wedding Crashers."
"Now it seems all so familiar, but at the time it was cutting edge and we were grouped with all that independent film stuff," Favreau said. But, he continued, "Vince and I and (director) Doug Liman too, and Ron, we've hit the mainstream as we're closing in on 40 years old and now we're the system."
Besides honoring "Swingers," the 12th annual festival, sponsored by HBO, will offer 23 feature films, including Robert Altman's "A Prairie Home Companion," "Dave Chappelle's Block Party" and Damon Wayans' "Behind the Smile," 23 shorts and live comedy.
The festival announced earlier this year that actress Goldie Hawn and director James Burrows would be honored during the event.
Last year's festival reunited Cheech Marin and former film partner Tommy Chong, who appeared together for the first time in 20 years. The 2005 event also saw "Doonesbury" cartoonist Garry Trudeau receive the festival's Freedom of Speech Award while prone on a stretcher after he broke his collarbone while skiing.
Jennifer Aniston Movie 'The Break Up' Pokes Fun at Brad Pitt?

Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn's upcoming film may take a few shots at her ex-husband Brad Pitt in the movie a published report hints. The movie was filmed last summer as the pair was separated but not legally divorce.
Will Jen get the last laugh when the film comes out?
A short item in Life & Style hints as much.
Playing off the reports that Jen is mocking Angie and Brad the dish is that while Jen gets a kick out of teasing Brad and Angie, her favorite joke seem to be in the form of her new movie poster for The Break-Up, which pokes fun at her real breakup with Brad.
The poster (above picture) shows Jen and Vince as a broken-up couple still living together, lying in bed with a strip of tape separating them and a caption reading, The Break-up

Jennifer Aniston Lampoons Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt in Vegas

Save your pity for Jennifer Aniston. The 'Friends With Money' star is having a good time living it up with Vince Vaughn and to add some more fun is busy lampooning Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt while partying in Las Vegas, says a published report.
She does a trout pout like Angelinas and pretends to be Brad, spouting all this stuff about saving the world and being a great architect, a pal says of Jen.
Jen and Vince spent Super Bowl weekend in Sin City, gambling and living it up at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino reports Life & Style Magazine.
One eyewitness tells the magazine that they seemed very much in love.

The witness also claims that Jen and Vince must have smoked over four packs of cigarettes between them, and they always had drinks in their hands the story details.
Jens wild ways have her pal Courteney Cox, 41, worried about her health, as Life & Style has reported. Courteney thinks Jen smokes and drinks too much when shes with Vince, says an insider.
With all the drinking, smoking and hours of gambling according to the witness, it seems like Jens taking cues from her fun-loving Swingers-star boyfriend, loosening up while making fun of Brad and Angie with jokes and impersonations of them.

Couples News: Stars Ring in the New Year

Rumors have suggested that Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn may have cooled off their new romance, but "Extra" spotted the couple on their way into a spa in Laguna Beach, Calif., where the stars pampered themselves as they prepared to ring in the New Year.
And it looks like Jen's ex, Brad Pitt, is all revved up about 2006. "Extra" saw him in Malibu Thursday on his motorcycle.
Over in Hawaii, Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton were enjoying their holiday escape. "Extra" caught the on-again lovebirds swimming with the dolphins.
In the City of Lights, another hot pair spent a romantic New Year's rendezvous. "Scrubs" doctor Zach Braff and Mandy Moore did some lip locking and strolled in the world's most romantic city.
Speaking of Paris (the other Paris), "Extra" spotted a solo Miss Hilton making waves in Hawaii.
And finally, we spotted a very slender Star Jones kicking off the New Year a bit early with her husband, Al Reynolds, at the beach in St. Barts.

'Old School' Actor Cranshaw Dies at 86
Saturday December 31 11:04 PM ET
Patrick Cranshaw, who achieved cult-like status as fraternity brother "Blue" in the 2003 comedy "Old School," has died. He was 86.
The veteran character actor died of natural causes Wednesday at his home in Fort Worth, Texas, his personal manager, Jeff Ross, told the Los Angeles Times.
During a career that spanned nearly 50 years, Cranshaw had dozens of roles, including a bank teller in "Bonnie and Clyde" and a demolition derby owner in "Herbie: Fully Loaded" (2005). Other credits included "Bandolero" (1968), "Best in Show" (2000) and "The Hudsucker Proxy" (1994), as well as television series "Mork & Mindy" and "The Dukes of Hazzard."
But he was probably best known for his role as elderly frat boy Joseph "Blue" Palasky in "Old School," starring Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn.
In the hit comedy, he was about to wrestle two topless girls but dies of an apparent heart attack from overexcitment. After singing "Dust in the Wind" at Blue's funeral, Ferrell's character calls out in agony: "You're my boy, Blue!"
Fans would yell the signature line whenever they saw the actor. He was even invited to meet with the Texas Rangers when they played the Angels in Anaheim.
"It was a great experience and an acknowledgment for him," Ross said. "He loved the recognition and would turn back and say, 'I'm your boy Blue.'"
Cranshaw was born in Bartlesville, Okla., in 1919 and became interested in acting while entertaining American troops before World War II.
He is survived by three children, Jan Ragland, Joe Cranshaw and Beverly Trautschold.
'Rumor' Mill
December 25, 2005
BY Cindy Pearlman
Chicago Sun-Times
Her "Rumor Has It" co-star Shirley MacLaine sets the record straight: "The truth is Vince Vaughn prefers older women. I'm with him. Jennifer is my beard. I'm having the ball and Jennifer is taking all the heat," says the screen icon.
In a Pasadena, Calif., hotel suite, Jennifer Aniston listens to the older "other" woman and cracks up. She just shakes her head incredulously, especially when I delve into her personal life, like whether she's moving to Chicago.
"I did love filming 'The Break Up' in Chicago, and I'd move there if I knew somebody besides you and Shirley's 'boyfriend' Vince," Aniston says, laughing. Until she calls the moving van, Aniston is content to talk about her new movie "Rumor Has It" where she plays a young woman who finds out her family is the basis for the 1967 film "The Graduate," where Anne Bancroft does the deed with the young Dustin Hoffman. Of course, Aniston had to address her own rumor-filled life.
If you believe all of the rumors, then I should have 10 children by now and I would have been married five times. To women and men! Gosh! Can you just put it out there that when any of this happens, I swear I will come out and announce it. You will have it. No, I'm not adopting any children. That's not me.
How do I deal with the media hoopla? Well, people have been great for the most part. There's respect. I found out that people really do like me, and that makes me feel better.
But let's move on to my movie. Yes, I play a girl who cheats on her fiance in "Rumor Has It." I enjoy that kind of flawed character. I think there's something really good in exploring those kind of flaws.
The film is also about a woman's fear of commitment. It's a universal feeling. You sit down and think, "I don't know. Is this the right choice? Is there something greener on the other side." I've figured out that it's all the same green at the end of the day. It's all in the heart.
"Derailed" didn't do so well. Maybe people didn't like to see me getting pistol whipped and raped. I'm so glad I did it. Now, I know I can do it. I can pull it off.
OK, maybe I regret one movie, but I don't admit it to anyone. It's an old horror film.
I'm not sorry to be done with "Friends." I do miss the people, but I see Courteney [Cox Arquette] every week. I haven't seen Lisa [Kudrow] in a while. We're all still friends. I also watch the reruns, which is so much fun for me.
I don't like the boys. Just kidding. I saw Matthew Perry last week, and I speak with Matt [LeBlanc]. Matt hasn't asked me to be on "Joey," but I would do it. It would be fun.
As for the heat on me, I would have thought it would have died down by now. I don't know why it hasn't. There are just so many new magazines now and they're desperate to fill them. Now the demand is so much greater, so they're taking anything and rehashing stories.
Jessica [Simpson] and Nick [Lachey] breaking up did take the heat off of us. Isn't it disgusting?
The Arizona Republic: Jen & Vince's Valley Vacation

On Thanksgiving weekend, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn were spotted in the Valley during a whirlwind vacation filled with spa treatments, shopping and an encounter with the cops (Vaughn was pulled over in his rental car and given a field sobriety test but passed it).
Here's our roundup of what they did, bought and ate.
The Break Up co-stars rented a $2,000-per-night private mountainside home at the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa, reports People magazine. The couple spent the long weekend getting pampered - Jen unwound with a $200 hot-stone massage, while Vince indulged in relaxation sessions of his own.

(LINK), where they sniffed and played around with products at the sink. Jen was in a mood to buy gifts. She filled an earthy mesh box with the Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub (a Lather bestseller), $19, Lavender & Lime Shea Butter Treatment, $17, and Eucalyptus Foaming Foot Scrub with Pumice, $18. She also snagged jars of the body and foot scrubs for herself.
Jen bought this baby gift set, $58 at Lather, which comes with Sunflower Calming Baby Crème, Blue Tansy Baby Oil, a sea sponge and a darling crochet cap by DayLee Design.
On a shopping trip at Kierland Commons, Jen perused the Charles David store, trying on various pairs of boots and modeling them for Vince. She finally decided upon the Inspire ankle boot, $225, from the brand's fall collection. The pair was spotted holding hands as they walked out of the store.
Jen and Vince rolled into Phoenix for some late-night munching at the hip sushi joint Zen 32. Dressed in jeans, they sat in a secluded booth and ordered a dish of edamame, miso soup, tempura rolls, spicy tuna rolls, yellowtail sashimi and the Zen Citrus Yellowtail (pictured), a favorite among celebrity customers (David Spade ordered a plate last week). Mid-meal, the pair walked up to the bar to sip sake and mingle with fans.
"They were cool, easygoing people," Zen 32 manager Roman Yasinsky says. "They definitely had the energy of a couple."
At the end of the night, Jen and Vince enjoyed an orange desert created specially by the chef.
Jen and Vince Walk the Red Carpet for GQ Event

December 2, 2005
For the first time, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn walked the same red carpet in Beverly Hills Thursday night for the star-studded GQ Men of the Year party.
Aniston, who looked ravishing in a black Vivienne Westwood dress, recently became the first ever Woman of the Year. The actress appears topless on one of the three new GQ covers. Aniston's beau Vince Vaughn and 50 Cent are the Men of the Year cover boys.
"I'm very excited, very flattered," Aniston said. "I was truthfully blown away by it."
"It's flattering just from the company involved in this issue," Vaughn added. "And Jennifer, as well, obviously, is an extremely talented actress."
Vince and Jen are trying to keep their relationship under the radar. The two carefully choreographed their arrivals so they couldn't be pictured together. They arrived separately and left separately, but they were spotted kissing later at LA's Polo Lounge.
Thursday night marked the end of a long week for Vaughn and Aniston. After vacationing together at the Sanctuary Spa in Arizona, Vince was pulled over and given a breathalyzer test, while Jen sat in the car. Vince wasn't cited.
While the cover girl and the cover boy were not talking on the red carpet, everyone else was more than happy to comment on Vince and Jen's magazine covers. "Her body looks amazing," said "Friends" co-star Courteney Cox Arquette. "You know, she's not 20, she's so lucky. I don't look anything like that when I don't have a shirt on."
Meanwhile, it was a star fest at the big party at Mr. Chows. Attendees included Molly Sims, Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton and Eva Mendes, who told us what really makes a GQ man: "A job helps."
Well, that's one thing Jennifer doesn't have to worry; her rumored man of the year certainly has that!

As Vince Vaughn's Swingers alter ego might say, "This is so not money, baby."
The Dodgeball star dodged a potential DUI after he and special friend Jennifer Aniston were pulled over for "a minor traffic violation" in Scottsdale, Arizona, earlier this week.
Vaughn, behind the wheel of rental car, and Aniston were wrapping up a Thanksgiving weekend trip when they were pulled over near a hotel shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
The patrolman "noticed a slight odor on his breath," said Sergeant Mark Clark of Scottsdale's finest, and, after asking the actor a series of questions, ordered Vaughn to take field sobriety tests.
"Mr. Vaughn was very cooperative," Clark told E! News. "Officers determined his blood-alcohol level was below the legal limit [of 0.08]," and no tickets were issued.
Clark said the officers on scene suggested Aniston and Vaughn hitch a ride with a friend who was trailing them. The are-they-or-aren't-they couple left the rental parked at the hotel and went on their way.
There was no immediate comment from the Vaughn and Aniston camps. The actors, who became friendly during the shooting of The Break Up in the weeks after Aniston's split with Brad Pitt, have been coy about the extent of their relationship. Aniston has called Vaughn a "dear friend," but paparazzi photos have capture them clinching and canoodling, seemingly backing up gossip magazine chatter of a burgeoning romance.
Indeed, People reported that they spent Thanksgiving in Scottsdale, at the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain resort in a $2,000-a-night private mountainside cottage.
Their romantic comedy The Break Up is due out in June 2006. Vaughn, 35, most recently starred in the summer megahit Wedding Crashers, which grossed more than $200 million domestically. Aniston, 36, is currently in theaters in the suspense thriller Derailed, and next appears in the comedy Rumor Has It, opening Christmas Day.

Jennifer Aniston vs. Angelina Jolie: Which Star is Sexiest?
The National Ledger: An eclectic mix of news analysis, pop culture and political commentary.
By Jill Atkins

Brad Pitt may be facing quite the dilemma. The hunky 'Ocean's Eleven' star who is now divorced from Jennifer Aniston and is now officially involved with Angelina Jolie may be wondering, which gal is now sexiest?
Jen: Sexy and Single
At least that's what In Touch is teasing and willing to examine in its upcoming issue.
The tabloid runs photos of the two women on its cover this week, with the headline 'Who's Sexier Now!'
It's a fair question - Jen is topless on the cover of GQ, while Angie now has all the duties of a mom, tending to the needs of her two adorable adopted children - Maddox and baby Zahara.
The "In Touch" web tease:
The former Friend has gone from the girl next door to a striking star. And her ex-husband has noticed that change!
Brads new love, Angelina Jolie, is having a hard time dealing with Brads calls to his ex, especially now that Brad and Jen are planning to meet within the next few weeks for their first face-to-face reunion in months.
Angelina, whose style has gone from vampy vixen to casual mom, has reason to be concerned, says Beverly Hills psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman. Brad was mesmerized by Angelinas sexiness in the beginning, says the doctor, who has not treated Brad, Angelina or Jen. But the fact that Jens out there looking great is making him notice her.
The point may be moot, as Jennifer and new unconfirmed beau Vince Vaughn appear to be progressing along quite nicely and are being nabbed by photographers and appear very happy.
Would Jen ever even go back with Brad?

Jennifer Aniston vows to re-marry and have children in five years
By Editor
Jennifer Aniston has vowed to re-marry and have children in five years. The stunning actress, whose divorce from Brad Pitt was finalised in October, admits she is still desperate to start a family and has vowed to fulfil her dream in the next few years. She said: "In five years, I would hope to be married and have a kid. I still believe in marriage 100 per cent." Jennifer, who is currently romancing her 'Break-Up' co-star Vince Vaughn, also insists she has always known that Brad has been romancing Angelina Jolie. However, despite the pair constantly being spotted in public together, the former 'Friends' beauty believes her ex has never deliberately tried to mock her with his new relationship - but is ambivalent to her feelings. She told Britain's Heat magazine: "I know what their relationship is. With me, there is a bit of the, 'Come on, enough already. Just stop it.' But Brad would never intentionally try to rub something in my face, but he does have a sensitivity chip missing."

Vince On Sex With Jen
http://www.sky.com/showbiz/article/0,,50001-1203174,00.html
A cheeky interviewer has prompted further speculation about the Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn romance rumour.
Poor Vince was left struggling for an answer when a GQ magazine journalist blurted: "It would be great if you just tell me what sex was like with Jennifer Aniston."
Talk about getting straight to the point.
Flustered Vince replied: "Well, yeah, exactly. But see, in my position, you're just like, whatever. There's nothing more that can come out of talking about that stuff."
OK, so we're no closer to an official declaration that the two stars of The Break Up are an item, but he didn't exactly deny that he and Jen had been... ahem... intimate.
Vince with Jennifer Aniston in The Break Up Although he could just have been referring to their
on-screen action...
He continued: "I'm not dating seriously. I hate dates and I don't even like the concept. I try not to take it too seriously."
While GQ were making Vince feel uncomfortable, they have also been giving men everywhere a reason to get a
little hot under the collar too. Jennifer, whose marriage to Brad Pitt ended at the beginning of the year, has been pictured in the mag wearing only a teensy tiny pair of denim hotpants.

Aniston joins the guys
By Karen Thomas, USA TODAY
The man of the year is a woman?
Look at me: Aniston was chosen to grace the cover because she has shown poise, grace and humor, editor Mark Healy says.
For the first time in 10 years, GQ magazine is featuring a woman on one of three covers of the annual Men of the Year issue. That woman: Jennifer Aniston. (Related story: Aniston remains our favorite Friend)
Actor Vince Vaughn and rapper 50 Cent also are sharing GQ's 2005 honor. The covers will be distributed to subscribers randomly, and all three will be sold on newsstands Nov. 22.
In 2003, GQ started featuring women in the issue, but "we wanted to choose the one woman who we find most compelling," says articles editor Mark Healy. The decision to run topless photos of her, he says, was between the photographer and Aniston.
In what GQ is billing as its first ever Woman of the Year, the nomination is "an honor" for Aniston, says her spokesman, Stephen Huvane. The actress was "inspired" by photographer Peggy Sirota, he says. "Jennifer has always been interested in creating images that are inspired and different from what you may have seen before."
Aniston, 36, earned the 2005 title, Healy says, because she "exhibited a lot of poise, unbelievable amount of grace and good humor this year."
She tells GQ, "Look, I'm not de{filig}ned by this relationship (with Brad Pitt). I wasn't when I was in it, and I don't want to be in the aftermath of it."
Ever since the former Friends star announced the end of her marriage in January and endured weekly tabloid attention, she "showed the best of herself," Healy says.
And Aniston is "ending 2005 really strongly with good performances" in films that make her a worthy man of the year. Derailed, which opened in third place last weekend, is a departure for the actress, who usually is cast in romantic comedies.
The appeal of the other men of the year, according to Healy:
Vince Vaughn. With the summer's movie hit, Wedding Crashers, Vaughn, 35, nailed the honor. "Once again, he was hilarious, charming and smart." Editors do recognize that there are more well-known stars, "but there's not one who better represents who our (readers) think is cool than Vince," recently photographed enjoying a weekend in Chicago with Aniston.
50 Cent. That the 30-year-old rapper has the year's top-selling album, a best-selling autobiography and a new video game is just the start of his appeal. Now, he is crossing over into movies with the just-opened Get Rich or Die Tryin'. "He's one of those public figures we're endlessly fascinated by."
Healy "can't say" whether a female MOTY will become a regular part of GQ's annual issue. "Sometimes, when you think someone is as deserving as (Aniston), then you make room."

Aniston remains our favorite Friend
By Karen Thomas, USA TODAY

Jennifer Aniston is shaping up to be among 2005's most alluring and best-selling celebrities. At least for magazines.
No shirt, no shoes, no problem: Jennifer Aniston as seen in Decembers GQ.
By Peggy Sirota, GQ
GQ named her the magazine's first woman of the year in its annual Man of the Year issue, which hits newsstand nationally Nov. 22.
Vanity Fair's September issue, in which Aniston, 36, talked for the first time about her January breakup with Brad Pitt, is the magazine's best-selling issue of all time, with 700,000 copies on newsstands. Second-best: a September 1999 cover of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, which sold 640,816 copies on newsstands. (Related story: Aniston joins the guys)
People magazine's issue with excerpts from the VF interview and cover story on Aniston was its best-selling issue of the year, says deputy managing editor Larry Hackett. Two other Aniston covers on People this year "were also very, very big sellers."
And that doesn't consider tabloid coverage.
This despite the fact that Aniston no longer has a hit TV show and has yet to have a blockbuster film. (Her latest movie, Derailed, opened this past weekend at No. 3. She has two other movies due in the next few months.)
While NBC's Friends was on the air from 1994 to 2004, she was one of the most popular cast members in terms of consumer appeal, according to Marketing Evaluations Inc.: The Q Scores Company, which ranks celebrity popularity.
Aniston's appeal has always been above average for female celebrities, says Henry Schafer, executive vice president of Marketing Evaluations. When Friends went off the air in May 2004, her appeal dropped about 20%, which is normal for a prime-time star, he says.
And interest in her romantic life continues to hold consumer attention, Schafer says. Since she and Pitt announced their split, magazines have been busy trying to link them to other parties. Pitt has been seen with Angelina Jolie, and Aniston has been photographed with Vince Vaughn, but neither relationship has been officially confirmed. "I can't point to anything else," Schafer says.
People's Hackett says that Aniston holds a "deep, deep likability and relate-ability" to which readers respond. "Audiences grew up with her." Part of her allure is the "construct of celebrity," he says, but no editor, producer or TV executive can "make people feel it, and it's difficult for the feeling to go away."
Why haven't Aniston's Friends co-stars attracted anywhere near the attention? That's the "alchemy" that can't be described, says GQ articles editor Mark Healy. "We have to recognize that some of her appeal is unexplainable."

The Scoop: Besides the White Sox World Series hysterical excitement, the media crowd has been reporting on the romance brewing between actors Vince ("Wedding Crashers," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith") Vaughn and Jennifer ("Friends") Aniston, who have been spotted around town since filming "The Break Up." One spot in particular where they have been seen three or four times is the Holiday Club and restaurant at Irving Park and Sheridan owned by Tim Juliusson.
I talked to Juliusson, who told this reporter, "I first met Vince in Chicago back in the early '90s after he made the 'Swingers' movie. Vince's sister, Victoria, used to date one of my best friends and at that time, the Holiday was located in the Wicker Park neighborhood until it closed in 2003 and moved to its present location.
"Jen and Vince were in as recently as Oct. 11, when she flew in to catch his 'Wild West Comedy Show' at the Vic. They dropped by to relax with some friends and were drinking, getting real comfortable and smoochie and stayed for all of 20 minutes or more," said Juliusson. He also said, "Jen is really cute and nice and doesn't put on airs . . . and Vince is so unassuming."

IT'S FOR REAL: Vinnifer? Jence? Vaughniston? However you say it, it appears that Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn's relationship is the real thing. This week's cover of PEOPLE tracks the couple's growing fondness, from their interaction on the set of The Break Up, to their recent lunch date with Vaughn's mother and stepfather. Despite recent denials by Aniston of any romantic involvement, photos of the two kissing and cozying up on the balcony of Aniston's hotel seem to put any speculation to rest.

The Lips Crash "Wedding"
Coyne and Co. lend new song to movie soundtrack, cover Queen
A new song by the Flaming Lips, "Mr. Ambulance Driver," will be featured on the soundtrack to the upcoming summer comedy, Wedding Crashers, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. Packed with indie rock -- including tunes from Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley, Bloc Party and Spoon, and a rare early track by Jimmy Eat World -- the CD is due three days before the movie's July 15th release.
Lips frontman Wayne Coyne can appreciate the premise of the film -- about a pair of womanizers who sneak into weddings to meet women -- having recently survived a family ceremony in Pittsburgh. "As the night wears on, it gets a little difficult, what with the old people drinking too much," he confesses. "And there are a lot of 'relatives' you're not sure you even know."
The Lips' track on the album, however, is considerably prettier and more melancholy, as "Mr. Ambulance Driver" was inspired in part by Coyne's sickness and a dark Seventies hit.
"My mother died about a year ago, and there was a mood that came with her illness that felt so desperate -- the shock of thinking about what the future might be," he says. "And I had this folksy, storytelling song about the scene of an accident: The guy is pleading with the ambulance diver to hurry up, but he realizes that the girl he's with is already dead. You know, there was a hit here in Oklahoma in the Seventies called 'D.O.A.,' this real heavy death-rock song [by Bloodrock] about a guy in a crash -- but I wanted to make something more emotional."
The tune will also grace the Lips' long-awaited twelfth album, At War With the Mystics, now due in January or February. ("At some point, you need a deadline," says Coyne. "That's how the Hoover Dam got built!") The band has recorded six songs for the CD, the follow-up to 2002's Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.
While he described earlier tracks as "progressive Dixieland," mixing banjo with "futuristic jazz," Coyne claims that the Lips recently made a revelatory change in direction. "We really turned a corner when we did a cover of Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' a couple months ago," he says. "We were already recording big, epic songs, and somebody here said, 'Sounds like you guys are doing something like Queen.' So we wanted to explore what about Queen has to do with us."
One track in that vein is "The Wand." "We've been recording for about two years," says Coyne. "And as the election happened, when this feeling of utter frustration and defeat came over all the losers out here, I tried to remind people that we still have this power within ourselves. There's this homeless guy who walks around here with this cane, and he thinks he can do magic things with it. Sometimes the belief empowers you more than your actual ability. So this is kind of a protest song on acid -- maybe more trippy than political."
"My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion," which the band has been performing live this year, is another Queen-inflected song. "It's one of these sort of grand, existential, religious-type songs the Flaming Lips have always done," he says, "where you take a miniscule moment in your life and really blow it up."
As for the new album's title, Coyne says, "It's about being at war with the unknown, confronting the invisible forces -- whether they're an internal thing or something outside. The truth-seekers are always at war with the mystics." He pauses before adding, "Of course, this is when people start to question your sanity, when you delve into this territory."

Entertainment Weekly: Stand-Up Guy
Chatting with Vince Vaughn. EW takes an exclusive look at the ''Wedding Crasher'' star's next gig by Joshua Rich
Wedding Crashers may be the summer's top comedy, but star Vince Vaughn, 35, isn't resting on his laurels. He's informed EW exclusively that next he'll emcee Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show, a 30-day, 30-gig U.S. tour featuring stand-ups Ahmed Ahmed, John Caparulo, Bret Ernst, and Sebastian Maniscalco. The bus gets rolling Sept. 12 in L.A. and drives through the South and Midwest before parking in the Windy City on Oct. 11. (For more information, go to www.wildwestpictureshowproductions.com) ''Bands travel around and perform every night,'' he says. ''That kind of live interaction with the crowd is always great.'' In other words, he's ready to rock.
How did you assemble this ensemble from L.A.'s Comedy Store?
There's something really pure about these comics. Like my friend Ahmed is Muslim-American, and there are not a lot of roles or opportunities for him, so stand-up comedy became his only road, the way for him to express what's going on. For all the comics, there's some truth in that for the comedy they do.
Is your hosting style more Miss America or WrestleMania?
[Chuckles] It's just myself. My favorite was Johnny Carson. You come out, try to make people feel comfortable, try to have fun. I don't want to pick on the audience it's not my style. If there's any teasing, it's self-deprecating.
Do you have any fond road trip memories?
My family would take road trips all the time we'd go [from Illinois] to Ohio or down to Florida. That was always a big deal: being in a car, traveling with your family, trying not to get grounded by the time you get there!
Now that you're an expert wedding crasher, what advice would you give to folks who plan on crashing the shows?
I don't think they're crashable. I mean, you've gotta buy tickets.

Position Divorce mediator Jeremy Grey in Wedding Crashers; hitman Eddie in Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Season highlights Now he really is money. Vaughn was hilarious chasing ''babies'' and waxing eloquent in 1996's low-grossing Swingers. But after a run of serious-role duds including his onanistic interpretation of mama's-boy psycho killer Norman Bates in that Psycho remake he couldn't land comedies. Old School in 2003 and Dodgeball in 2004 finally made him not just a lovable motormouth but a bankable one, and this summer he topped himself, coming on like some nattering Barry Levinson character after a double espresso. Whether bellowing pissed-off patter at an unseen mom as Brad Pitt's assassin-agency pal in Mr. & Mrs. Smith or gleefully demonstrating how to ''motorboat'' a woman's breasts to Owen Wilson in Wedding Crashers, Vaughn's unstoppable air of hedonistic brio makes him the buddy you want to hang with after the movie's over.

This ain't the kind of swinger Vince Vaughn usually pals around with.
The wise-cracking star of Swingers and The Lost World: Jurassic Park was the victim of a carless hit-and-run early Friday morning, according to his publicist and police.
"All I know is that Vince last night was at a club. He had left and was waiting for his car when someone hit him and ran," publicist Ina Treciokas tells Los Angeles' City News Service.
Vaughn was celebrating his 33rd B-day in the wee hours Friday at L.A.'s Lava Lounge when the stealth decking occurred.
"He was the victim of a fight," confirms a spokesman for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, who adds that Vaughn was clocked around 2 a.m.
No charges were filed against the onetime Psycho, who suffered a bloody nose from the attack. As Vaughn was ushered back into the club by bouncers, the mystery assailant made his getaway. The sucker-puncher is still on the lam and being hunted by police. No motive was given for the assault. (Who knows, maybe he really didn't like Clay Pigeons?)
Treciokas says Vaughn was minding his own business at the time and didn't provoke the punch. "Vince never threw a punch. There was no brawl. He was just standing outside and got punched. Authorities are looking for this individual. I have every confidence they will find him."
Should the pugilistic person be apprehended?
"Vince is considering pressing charges," says the publicist.
Vaughn, currently cutting up audiences in the frat-house comedy Old School, is no stranger to being targeted in barroom battles. Two years ago, while shooting Domestic Disturbance in Wilmington, North Carolina, he wound up in a melee with locals that ended with the stabbing of his costar and drinking buddy Steve Buscemi.
Buscemi recovered. Vaughn later copped a plea, paid a small fine and agreed to steer clear of Wilmington bars. As part of the plea deal, the charges were dropped dropped six months later.

TV actress Bonnie Hunt, movie star Vince Vaughn and Mayor Richard Daley put aside their day jobs today to take part in the annual Principal for a Day program of the Chicago Public Schools.
More than 1,300 celebrities, corporate executives and civic leaders served as honorary principals and in other roles at nearly 600 elementary and high schools across the city.
Vaughn, who appeared in "Swingers," "Jurassic Park: The Lost World," "The Cell" and "Domestic Disturbance," caused a sensation as he walked the halls of Curie Metropolitan High School on the city's Southwest Side. Girls cried out his name, fawned over him, asked for his autograph and vied to shake his hand.
"First, let me say I am totally impressed with you guys. You guys do a hell of a job with improv," Vaughn told drama students after doing a father-daughter-boyfriend comedy routine with them.
He also admitted, "I was really bad at school, academically," because his heart was into acting.
After studying under such Chicago theater luminaries as ImprovOlympic co-creator Del Close and at Second City, the Vaughn said he headed for Los Angeles to pursue an acting career shortly after graduating from Lake Forest High School in 1988, supporting himself with proceeds from a Chevrolet TV commercial.
Vaughn, who leaves Monday for London to act in a Mel Gibson movie, later said he enjoyed today's visit: "It was a refueling to see these kids perform."
Jonah Taylor, 17, a Curie senior and aspiring actor, said, "He made me feel real comfortable. He didn't make me feel like an amateur at all."
Hunt plays a Chicago TV host on the sitcom, "Life with Bonnie." She visited two English classes at Crane Tech High School on the city's West Side.
"I was a good kid," Hunt, who described her self as a writer and an actor, confided to students of a British literature class. "I thought of school as a captive audience. It gave me a chance to work on my material."
"I wasn't one of the pretty and popular kids," said the 1979 graduate of Notre Dame High School for Girls on the city's North Side. "I failed many times. You just keep going.
"All you need is one good friend. That's enough. Someone to say hello to and tell your secrets to."
Sade Harrington, 15, a sophomore in an American literature class Hunt visited, had to explain an aphorism from "Poor Richard's Almanac." "I felt shy at first. But then I got into the rhythm of it. She's really nice and funny," Harrington said.
Another TV personality, Chi McBride, the principal in "Boston High," got to reenact that role at Westinghouse High School, while Daley put in an appearance at Orr Community Academic High School.
Other honorary educators today were to include Boeing Chief Executive Phil Condit who this morning announced Boeing's donation of $800,000 in education-related grants to area not-for-profit organizations and former Chicago Bull Bob Love; Walter Payton's widow, Connie; Walt Disney's daughter Diane Disney Miller; and singer Heather Headley.

Studio finalizing a deal to pick up the pitch Toy Men from Vaughn.
By Buzz Johnson, FilmStew.com
MGM is in the final stages of a deal in which they will acquire the pitch Toy Men from actor-producer Vince Vaughn. Helmer David Dobkin is attached to direct the project, which Vaughn brought to MGM executives last week based on his orignal idea. Vaughn and Dobkin developed the pitch, and Vaughn will produce through Mosaic Media Group. Mosaic's Eric Gold brought the project there with Garby Leon, vice president of production
With writer Steve Pink (High Fidelity) attached to pen the script, the story focuses on a group of cut-throat toy salesman. One of the reps, to be played by Vaughn, decides to bring in his 11-year-old daughter to help him in finalizing the deal.
Repped by the United Talent Agency, Vaughn recenlty produced and starred in Artisan Entertainment's Made and also starred in Paramount's Domestic Disturbance. He is currently busy filming the comedy Old School for director Todd Phillips.
Dobkin, also repped by UTA, will next direct the Shanghai Noon sequel, Shanghai Knights, while the William Morris Agency repped Pink has written such features as Grosse Pointe Blank.
E! Online: Vaughn Enters Bar Brawl Plea

So much for the North Carolina nightlife.
Former Swinger Vince Vaughn and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg have agreed to steer clear of the downtown Wilmington bar scene, after they copped pleas for a barroom brawl that ended with the stabbing of actor Steve Buscemi.
Lawyers for Vaughn and Rosenberg entered Alford pleas in Wilmington District Court Thursday--which are treated the same as "guilty" pleas, but without admitting guilt--after they got into a nasty run-in with several locals in the normally Hollywood-friendly town.
Vaughn, 31, and Rosenberg, 38, were arrested April 12 outside the Firebelly Lounge in Wilmington, while they were there filming Domestic Disturbance, costarring John Travolta. Buscemi--who reportedly tried to break up the brawl--was stabbed in the face, throat and arm during the melee and was treated at a local hospital before flying to New York to recover.
Local resident Timothy Fogerty, 21, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, after witnesses told police he instigated the brawl and allegedly stabbed Buscemi.
Vaughn and Rosenberg (whose writing credits include Gone in 60 Seconds and Con-Air) didn't appear in court Thursday, but District Judge John Carroll handed out "prayers for judgment continued," which are typically reserved for first-time or minor offenders. The charges may be dropped within six months, according to the Wilmington Star newspaper.
In the meantime, Vaughn and Rosenberg were ordered to stay clear of Wilmington bars, undergo alcohol assessments, pay court costs plus $250 in fines and return to court in January to have the charges dismissed.
Vaughn and Rosenberg also have agreed to testify against Fogerty, whose assault case is still pending.
Following the brawl, Vaughn flew back to Los Angeles to work on another upcoming film, Made, costarring his former Swingers buddy Jon Favreau. The film, costarring Sean "Puffy" Combs, Famke Janssen and Peter Falk, is due out this summer.
Cinematic Happenings Under Development: 'Back To School'

Release Date: October 4th, 2002
Luke Wilson is getting a couple of accomplices in his attempt to capture those glory days of those glory days of college, and one is quite "money" while the other does a hell of a Harry Carey impression.
Wilson will be joined by Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell in "Old School", an upcoming DreamWorks comedy. Formerly known as "Bad Dog School", the film follows three adult guys who've had enough of their mundane lives and try to recapture the excitement of their days in university. This is accomplished by getting up to all sorts of college-like hijinks and general tomfoolery, which will probably, hopefully, involve an excess of beer and chicks.
The film will be directed by Todd Phillips, who also recently agreed to helm Ben Stiller's "Starsky and Hutch" feature film. Vaughn is currently terrorizing John Travolta in "Domestic Disturbance", because someone needs to do it.

The pair became good friends when they starred in GUS VAN SANT's remake of the HITCHCOCK classic PSYCHO, and Heche's recent antics, including revelations of her mental illness and a tell-all book, have SWINGERS star Vaughn concerned.
He says, "I really love Anne. I feel a lot of affection for Anne and I respect her very much as an actor. It's not my place to put any judgement on what someone goes through at a place in their life."
He continues, "I think a lot of times, to me, what's disconcerting is when people go through something vulnerable, there seems to be a glee in that. And I just have a whole other outlook. This is a decent person, someone who's been through a lot, who's tried really hard to accomplish something. So my prayers and my wishes are always for her to be happy and safe... in whatever it is she's looking for."

Jon and Vince Have It Made
From
tvguide.com:
We've been waiting a long time to see the L.A. Gen X odd couple Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn reunite on the screen. Their 1996 hit Swingers, which Favreau wrote based on their mutual experiences as struggling actors, made sure their talents would no longer waste away in obscurity like that of their characters. The film even managed to coin the short-lived catch phrase "money," and helped spread L.A.'s swing craze to the rest of the country. Favreau wrote and directed the follow-up, Made, due out July 13, maintaining all
of the chemistry between the two friends, but tweaking their identity and mission a bit this time trying to complete some sort of mob deal for a boss played by Peter Falk. The film also marks the acting debut of Sean Combs (yes, that's how he's credited here). Watch the trailer on the official site, GettingItMade.com, and post your questions and thoughts on their bulletin boards. Jon and Vince personally respond to a majority of the posts there. Or you can chat with them on Yahoo Wednesday, July 11th at 8 pm/ET.

From the Chicago Sun-Times:
'MADE' GUYS:
Former Chicagoan and Improv-Olympic mainstay Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn were all over town Sunday and Monday boosting their second joint movie effort, ''Made'' (opening here July 20). Though very different from their 1997 sleeper hit 'Swingers,'' the new picture also is a ''buddy'' film that plays heavily off the two actors' personal chemistry. Pals in real life, as well as onscreen, Favreau even leapt to Vaughn's defense while chatting Monday about the bar brawl incident in North Carolina, where Vaughn and his ''Domestic Disturbance'' co-star Steve Buscemi became entangled in an altercation with a patron who thought Vaughn was hitting on his girlfriend.
'Vince is the same as when I first met him,'' Favreau said. ''Without fail, people want to come up and talk to him and he is terrific with them. ...He loves the fans. We don't want to surround ourselves with guards to keep fans away.''
Vaughn agreed, stressing that ''because there is a pending court case I can't talk about [the North Carolina incident],'' but he will continue to ''refuse to surround myself with security, just because one strange incident happened. ...Ninety-nine percent of the time, people are terrific.''
Keeping with that meet-and-greet program, Vaughn and Favreau made the circuit during their 48 hours in town--everything from checking out the scene at Le Passage to munching on goodies from Big Bowl before the Pipers Alley screening of ''Made'' Monday night.

Buscemi, Vaughn Attacked in Bar Brawl
by E! Online News Staff
Apr 12 2001 02:05:00:000PM
Steve Buscemi was stabbed Thursday morning after he and Vince Vaughn were involved in a Wilmington, North Carolina, bar brawl.
Buscemi had joined Vaughn and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg at the Firebelly Lounge in downtown Wilmington, where they were on location shooting John Travolta's new film, Domestic Disturbance. Both Vaughn and Rosenberg were arrested during the melee. Travolta was reportedly not there when the fight broke out.
Wilmington resident Timothy Fogerty, 21, was arrested and charged Thursday with assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly stabbed Buscemi several times in the head, throat and arm. According to North Carolina's WECT-TV, the actor (whose film credits include Fargo and Reservoir Dogs) was taken to New Hanover Regional Hospital in critical condition. He was reportedly discharged Thursday afternoon and flew back to New York.
Sources on the set of Domestic Disturbance tell E! News Daily that Buscemi's injuries were minor and he's expected back on the set Monday. The brawl reportedly has not affected the shooting schedule, but there's no official word yet from Paramount Pictures regarding the incident.
Wilmington police say the fight broke out around 2:30 a.m., after witnesses reported that Fogerty was making comments about wanting to slice someone. "From what witnesses say, he provoked [the fight] at the club," says Officer Crystal Williamson. "And as they left, he provoked it again."
Williamson says that when Buscemi, Vaughn and Rosenberg were leaving, the fight broke out. Vaughn, the 31-year-old star of Swingers and The Cell, and Rosenberg (whose credits include Gone in 60 Seconds, Con-Air and the new Spider-Man film) were arrested and held on $600 bail.
Another local man, 20-year-old Kenneth Purgason, also was arrested in the brawl. Purgason, Vaughn and Rosenberg are due in court June 4.
Production on Domestic Disturbance began in Wilmington in January. The Paramount film, due out sometime this fall, stars Travolta as a divorced man who believes his 11-year-old child's new stepfather (played by Vaughn) has sinister intentions.

Vince Vaughn Eyes Japanese C&W Movie
By
LOUIS B. HOBSON -- Calgary Sun
Monday, April 2, 2001
WILMINGTON -- Vince Vaughn who plays the evil stepfather in Domestic Disturbance has a pet project he hopes will get rolling before the end of the year.
"There are these two Japanese girls who record under the name Betty Booka. They do cover versions of American country and western songs. I want to bring them to America and do a semi-documentary about them performing in honky tonk clubs," explains Vaughn.
"It is such a bizarre concept. I think it has great potential. I've talked to Buck Owens and Waylon Jennings and they're both interested in appearing with the girls in the final concert which would take place in a huge Texas honky tonk."
Vaughn made his break into films through the cult movie Swingers, which he made with his longtime friend Jon Favreau. The friends teamed up again last year on another low-budget, independent film called Made.
Their co-stars include Peter Falk, Sam Rockwell, Bud Cort and rapper Sean Puffy Combs. "Sean came to us. He'd heard about the project and wanted to become involved.
"He wanted a small role in a little film to see if it works for him." Made is scheduled to begin a limited release on July 13.

The Miramax party, another 11th-hour decision, was a very relaxed soiree in the Veranda Room at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. Planned by Harvey Weinstein and company as a place for people to wind down, the party didn't start until 1 a.m. yesterday, and it drew the likes of Benicio Del Toro, Vince Vaughn, Neve Campbell, Ben Stiller and Jon Lovitz. Music was provided by guest deejay Rosanna Arquette. "I have been doing this for years," Arquette said of spinning records, "before it was hip." The Miramax party did not end until 6 a.m.

C: Have you had serious relationships?
A: Not a lot. I've had my share of couple-of-weeks relationships.
C: When you're dating someone, how do you know it's time to get out?
A: If there's no connection. A lot of times, if I've gone home with a girl but I can tell there's nothing between us, I'll try to find my way out. Even that night, without even, uh, sleeping with the girl, because it gets so complicated sometimes when you do it the other way around.
C: What's the most romantic thing you've ever done for a girl?
A: Probably just show up on time. I'm awful. I don't really go out and lay down a blanket and have sandwiches. I don't put rose petals on the floor. It's just not my style.
